What is there to say about the Savannah Bananas that hasn't already been said about the Savannah Bananas.
I went to with my brother, who turned to me during the pregame crowd work and said, "Why are they fucking dilly dallying. I’m here to fucking win", and after the game started and I returned with his pizza— he waited until I had a mouthful of my frozen drink to say, “What the fuck, I'm not here to watch them play, I'm here to watch them twerk”.
Then, he continued, a whole ten minutes later, "Why are they dancing. Is this a game to them?"
Needless to say, I think he gets the spirit of baseball.
Walter Jones, yes, Pro Football HOFer and one of the best left tackles the NFL has ever seen, showed up on the field for a dance-off. Sure, why not.
Jamie Moyer also pitched an inning! I didn't live in Seattle when he was still a Mariner, at that point I was merely a three-year-old in Long Island listening to my relatives gush about David Wright and brand-new-Met at the time, Billy Wagner. My Seattle Mariners experience doesn't start until the 2010s, with Félix Hernández and Kyle Seager at the helm.
Overall, the Savannah Bananas World Tour was a ton of fun! The only thing they missed out on is some acrobatics, à la Cirque Du Soleil.
